Preparations well under way

The RS/X Europeans event in Helsinki starts in just over a month. We have had a week of fabulous weather here right now- hopefully the same conditions with some more wind will prevail during the Championship event.

I hope that all of you have been able to find accommodation and travel facilities.

 

Here is some information regarding the officials, who will help us make the regatta a success:

The Jury will be chaired by John Doerr (GBR). Other members will be Kamen Fillyov (BUL), Gonzalo Heredia (ARG), Tom Schubert (FIN) and Michael Röllich (FIN).

The PRO of the event is Lars Nyqvist (FIN). There will be two courses and the racing on  those courses will be managed by the following tandems:

Madis Ausman (EST) and Erik Wallin (FIN)

Ewa Jodlowska (POL) and Sami Sailo (FIN)

Bas Edmonds (GBR) will be responsible for measurement and inspection.

And Andrus Poksi (EST) will be the class representative here. He has been extremely helpful in our preparations for the event and will certainly continue to support us.

 

Many of you sailors will arrive by plane to Helsinki airport. We have set up a service to bring your boards – and possibly yourself – to the venue, about 22 km away from the Helsinki Vantaa airport.

Several coaches have approached us with the request to help to find charter RIBs. We have been able to provide a number of – mostly privately owned – RIBs and will probably be able to find some more before the event starts.

For those of you who plan to arrive early, before the championship venue opens, there is a possibility to stay at the HSK Sail Club. Ted Gröndahl will be happy to give you any additional information (, +358 50 0330331)
