Marina Alabau (ESP5) consolidated her position on top of the 23 board RS:X Women’s fleet posting a 2nd and a bullet. Behind her, Blanca Manchon (ESP1) had her worst result of the regatta (8th) in today’s second race which has pushed her down to third overall despite taking it as a discard.
Zofia Keplacka (POL8) now takes over second spot by one point. She has won the ISAF Youth World Championship and has a proud record in other top regattas so she will now go ‘head-to-head’ with Marina Alabau in an attempt to dislodge her in the second half of this ISAF Sailing World Cup Regatta.
Over in the men’s fleet, the story is not so different. Dorian van Rijsselberge (NED8) was consistent if not outstanding. He placed 4th in the two races of the day, took one as a discard but still dropped to second place overall.
Taking over at the top, Ivan Pastor (ESP7) will definitely have his work cut out over the next few days. There are only 10 points separating Julien Bontemps (FRA6) from third place. With the wind forecast to fill from the South on Thursday before switching to the north by Friday afternoon and blowing anythingup to 20 knots, this regatta is a long way from over.
