2010 Worlds confirmed for Denmark

The 2010 RS:X World Championship will be staged in Kerteminde, Denmark

The AGM in Takapuna, New Zealand originally decided to select Paros, Greece to host this major event subject to contractual terms and conditions. Sadly, these were not agreed by the due date so the class approached the underbidder from Denmark to ask whether  they were still ready to host the event.

Following a site visit and meetings with the Mayor of Kerteminde, the President of the Danish Sailing Federation and the Commodore of the Kerteminde Sailing Club agreement has been reached to stage the event at the end of August/beginning September 2010.

The venue offers almost unlimited space in which to construct an event village and a large body of water adjoining what was once the longest span suspension bridge in the world. Trains run direct from Copenhagen International Airport to the local station not 20 minutes away. The organisers propose to arrange the transfer of equipment from what will be the Pre-Pre-Olympic Regatta in Weymouth to ensure that the 2 athletes per country per fleet are able to transfer their equipment easily.
