Olga takes the race and moves up to 2nd - Hyeres/day 5

Mingli Duan (CHN) came from the back of the pack to claim second place in the only race of the day in the women’s fleet

but the real winner was Olga Maslivets (UKR) who took the gun and moved up to second place overall after Jannicke Stalstrom (NOR) and Jessica Crisp (AUS) put in less than sparkling performances scoring 27th and 17th respectively. They both drop down the table to 3rd and 4th.

Zofia Klepacka (POL) has increased her lead to 14 points so will have to make a disasterous mistake in the medal race tomorrow to lose this regatta. She has been by far the most consistent sailor in all conditions so deserves her win however at the RS:X Europeans which start on May 1st she will be up against Barbara Kendall (NZL) and Alessandra Sensini (ITA) not to mention Marina Alabau (ESP). If she wants to take a medal in Quindao, Zofia has got to take the fight to these three and make her challenge stick!

That is easier said than done. Alessandar and Barbara are the Steffi Graf and Billy Jean King of windsurfing. These legends are not about to move over for any young pretenders until they choose to.
