After the postponement in December, the RS:X Youth World Championship is set to start on January 10th 2009. The number of competitors now registered stands at just under 50 from 14 countries and 3 continents. This is about half that originally expected in December but that is to be expected. Not everyone has been able to re-schedule their plans. School term times and especially exams have intervened.
For those who actually made it into Thailand in December, The Eastern Windsurfing Club, the LOA is offering a special deal on the hotel and transfers. However, once money has been spent in cannot be re-spent at a later date. Some budgets has been exhausted; others re-allocated; and others still are new for 2009 so the whole application process for funding has not been possible in the time.
