ISAF Member National Authorities (MNAs) have submitted applications for
additional competitors. Commenting on the entries, ISAF Events Manager,
Alastair Fox said...
'We are delighted with the number of requests we have received. The Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships is certainly on track to be an outstanding event, showcasing the very best sailing talent'.
'It is great to see seven new nations too. We are looking forwarding to seeing sailors from Montenegro, St Lucia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Cook Islands, Trinidad & Tobago and Palestine competing at the championships for the first time'. added Fox.
The sailors from the Cook Islands and Trinidad and Tobago will be already familiar with the conditions in Fremantle having been working hard on the Emerging Nations Programme (ENP).
The next deadline in the entries process is 31 July, after which the accreditation system will be formally opened and the competing athletes confirmed.

Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships
The Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships will take place in Fremantle, Western Australia for the ten events of the Olympic Sailing Competition.
Racing is scheduled to take place from 3 to 18 December. As well as hosting the battle for World Championship glory, Perth 2011 is the principal qualification regatta for the sailing events at the London 2012 Olympic Games where 75% of the national places will be decided.
The nine fleet racing events will all sail an opening series before the top ten in each event contest a double-points Medal Race to decide the final positions. The Medal Races have a target time of approximately 30 minutes and will take place close to the shore to allow spectators ashore to get close up to the action.
The women's match racing format will be an opening series followed by a knockout series. Full details of the match racing competition format will be published by 31 August once the number of entries is finalised.
